Empowering the youth to make a difference - WA
Slam
2023-11-25
The West Africa Centre for Peace Foundation PeaceJam Ghana organized a one-day PeaceJam Slam, centered around "Empowering the youth to make a difference," proved to be a transformative event for the 567 enthusiastic participants. The day began with engaging ice break, family grouping (breakout sessions) and inspiring discussions, culminating in a collective commitment to action. Through collaborative activities and mentorship opportunities, young people developed essential leadership skills, cultivated empathy, and honed their abilities to tackle pressing global challenges. Dividing into groups, students embarked on service projects that exemplified their dedication to community betterment. A team rallied to clean WA municipal hospital premises, demonstrating their tangible support for a healthier environment. Simultaneously, another group fervently educated community members on fostering violence-free elections, advocating for informed and peaceful civic engagement. Our 2023 PeaceJam Slam was not just a gathering of eager minds but a catalyst for practical, impactful initiatives that echoed the youth's passion for positive change, leaving an indelible mark on both the participants and the communities they served. The slam fostered an environment of empowerment and enlightenment, leaving all involved inspired and equipped with the tools to embark on their journey as proactive agents of peace and social transformation.
