The West Africa Centre for Peace Foundation organized a one-day mentors training in preparation for the annual PeaceJam WA slam - a transformative conference that brings young people together to learn about peace and positive leadership.
The training held on Friday, November 28,2025 prepared 70 university students and teacher trainees to serve as effective guides and role models for youth engaged in peace-oriented projects. Participants were equipped with essential skills in leadership development, effective communication, conflict resolution and best practices in mentorship, as well as techniques for facilitating small group discussions.
Using case studies, role-playing and group exercises, the sessions simulated real-life challenges mentors may encounter. Special emphasis was placed on empathy, active listening ad creating a supportive environment for mentors. Their commitment marks a powerful step towards nurturing a culture of peace among young people in the Upper West Region, WA.
